Down to the last putt: Last weekend the Golfpark Rosenhof woke to a veil of fog that gave way to sunshine—perfect tournament conditions for two days of club championships for the women, men, and the 30, 50, and 65 age groups.
The greenkeeping team led by Head Greenkeeper Henry had the course in championship shape. A special thank-you goes to Christa Sam for organizing the Halfway catering with heart and poise, to starter Thomas Flauss for sending all flights off calmly and on time on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, to Kathrin Linke for her support in the office, and to William Keller for marshalling out on the course.
As the fog lifted, the field got to work. In the women’s competition, Ying Wang set an early marker with an 85. The men’s leaderboard stayed tight: André Heilmann held a razor-thin lead over Oliver Rüth, with Eike Höfe and Constantin Osten lurking within striking distance.
In the 65+ age group, Hong Wang built a comfortable cushion. The Women 50 division promised drama as well: defending champion (2024) Christiane Bachmann pulled five shots clear of her predecessor, Lu Li (2023). Among the Senior Men (50), it was as close as a tap-in at the final green—Ramon Lorenz just ahead of titleholder Toni Vitale, closely followed by Günther Lauterbach and Milo Grbsea.
Day two began cool and bright, and as the hours passed the wind picked up. Around 11:00 a.m., the first groups turned onto the 18th green, and the closing stretch fell into that expectant hush where every putt sounds a little louder.
Hong Wang brought his lead home comfortably to win the Men 65 title, with Erich Albert capping a strong final round to take second. In the Women 50, the decision came in a playoff: Christiane Bachmann and Lu Li were tied after 18 holes before Lu Li kept her nerve on the first extra hole to claim the championship.
In the Super-Senior Women, Gabi Baum set the standard with the best rounds on both days and deservedly crowned herself club champion once again—title defense emphatically successful. In the Senior Men, Toni Vitale showed what defending champions are made of and retained his title despite back trouble. In the women’s overall, Ying Wang stuck to her game plan and edged out Etsuko Müller, who impressed in her very first club championships.
In the Men 30 division, Oliver Rüth ultimately prevailed as the chasers from day one ran out of runway. In the overall men’s competition, it stayed open until the very last putt; once again, Henry Fittkau delivered the tournament’s best round—a 76, just like last year—and secured second place.
The weekend closed with the evening reception and awards ceremony at the Seehotel: golden light on the water, applause, handshakes, and plenty of good stories about missed chances and clutch putts. That’s club life at its finest.
Equally pleasing: many young golfers took part in our Challenge 18, competing with great enthusiasm and fair play—a strong sign for our next generation!
Our congratulations go to all champions, podium finishers, and participants. A heartfelt thank-you to all helpers and organizers. We’re already looking forward to the next highlights at Golfpark Rosenhof.
