German Bee Week β May 19β25, 2025
Play golf in support of our bees π
An initiative as part of "Golf & Nature" β Golfpark Rosenhof
More than 500 golf clubs across seven regional golf associations β including the HGV β are taking part in German Bee Week, held around World Bee Day on May 20. The goal of this initiative is to combine the passion for golf with active commitment to protecting bees and promoting biodiversity.
Golfclub Gut Hahues zu Telgte takes a stand for species conservation
With our events during Bee Week, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of wild bees and collect donations for flowering meadow seed and bee-friendly shrubs to be planted on the course.
Even outside of the tournaments, our βdonation beeβ, located at the reception during business hours, will gratefully accept any contributions.
While honeybees are doing relatively well thanks to beekeepers, the situation for wild bees is alarming:
Of the nearly 600 wild bee species in Germany, more than 50% are endangered or already extinct.
The reasons include:
Habitat loss due to construction and intensive agriculture
Pesticide use
Climate change
The specialization of many wild bees on specific flowering plants
Thanks to their large, natural landscapes, golf courses have great potential to support and protect pollinators. Measures such as flowering meadows, wild plantings, and nesting aids can transform golf courses into valuable sanctuaries for bees, butterflies, and other insects.
At Golfpark Rosenhof, weβre proud to show that golf courses are not only places for sport, but also important habitats for nature.
Together with our members and guests, weβre setting a clear example for greater biodiversity β and we warmly invite everyone to take part:
JUST BEE THERE!
Whether you're joining a tournament, playing a casual round, or simply stopping by β every little action helps our bees.
